Louise Knatchbull has been designing knitwear for luxury labels for over 15 years in the UK, Italy and Asia. During this time her collections have ranged from ladies accessories to children's (boys/girls) and newborns. Her extensive design experience included in-house, consultancy and manufacturing.
After graduating with honours from The Scottish College of textiles at the Heriot-Watt university, Louise started her career with The Hawick Cashmere company where she gained a fundamental understanding of knitwear from design concept to production with luxury yarns.
Following her move to London, Louise joined Burberry PLC as their head knitwear designer for womenswear, where she was integral in bringing their collection into the new Burberry era under Rosemary Bravo.
Following this success, Louise left Burberry to establish the European office in London for the Asian manufacturer, Neo-Concept, where she built up new client business by using her extensive design experience and yarn knowledge from luxury labels to high street.
In 2002, Louise established herself as a top knitwear designer with a reputation for fashion/classic designs and her distinct handwriting with clients including Burberry, Paul Smith, Harrods. She joined Joan Millar & Co as design director in 2005.
Louise launched her own label, Louise Knatchbull Ireland, a children's luxury label using cashmere blends. Her collections have ranged from fine gauges to chunky colorful hand knit with her own distinctive signature which have been sold worldwide and have included Saks Fifth Ave (NY), The Cross (London) and selected outlets in Dublin.
